Flutist Brittany Primavera is a solo performer, recording artist, chamber musician, and educator who has presented recitals and taught in Asia, Europe, and North and South America. Her performances have been broadcast on Czech Radio Ostrava (Czech Republic) and on the Teleantioquia program What's up? (Antioquia, Colombia), as well as critically reviewed by The Flute View and I Care If You Listen. Additionally, she has published articles in the Texas Flute Society Newsletter and The Flute View Magazine, presented numerous guest lectures on music entrepreneurship and contemporary chamber music, and was recently interviewed for the Flute 360 podcast.
Currently, Ms. Primavera is a member of The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own", where she serves as Public Affairs NCO and Unit Photographer. She is also Principal flutist of the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra (Virginia) and serves on the Board of Directors. Ms. Primavera previously served as a fifer in the United States Army's Fife and Drum Corps, where she performed in such venues as The White House (Washington D.C.), Parliament Hill (Canada), and several notable flute conventions and musters (The 2018 National Muster, Chester 150th Muster, Florida Flute Convention, Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, and Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia Convention). Ms. Primavera has presented at Virginia Tech, Northeastern State University, Luther College, Coe College, Millersville University, Lafayette College, and the University of North Texas.
Ms. Primavera is featured on Avid Sound Records on the albums Interactions (2014) and BC + 1 (2017). She also recently recorded Battle Cry of Freedom (2019), which celebrates music of the Union Army with ten-hole fife and snare drum and was in the first fife album to be on the first round of ballots for the Grammy's folk music category.
Ms. Primavera maintains a flute studio in Virginia. Her students have auditioned into the 5A Texas All-State Band, All-Region Orchestra, Lone Star Youth Winds (Dallas, Texas), Interlochen Arts Academy, and summer events and college music programs at Baylor University, the University of North Texas, the Tanglewood Institute at Boston University (BUTI), and Interlochen Arts Camp. Competitively, Ms. Primavera's students have received first division ratings at the Texas U.I.L. Solo and Ensemble Competitions, "Outstanding/Honors Performance" at the Texas Flute Society Festival, and include prize winners in the Flute Society of Kentucky High School Soloist and Junior High Soloist Competitions, as well as several divisions of competitions at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention.
Ms. Primavera holds the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of North Texas in performance with an emphasis in Chamber Music, Music Theory, and Spanish. Her primary teacher was Mary Karen Clardy. Ms. Primavera holds a certificate from the Janáčkova akademie múzických umění (Brno, Czech Republic) and a diploma from the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice (Nice, France), with additional studies with Vaclav Kunt, Frantisek Kantor, and Philippe Bernold.
